#37. Ride in a helicopter

On our second day in Maui, we crossed a major item off my bucket list.  We took a helicopter tour of Maui and Molokai.  We booked the trip through our concierge and got a great deal doing so because we booked last minute.  Our tour was at 7am, which didn't feel that early because we were still on Oregon time (10am).  The weather was perfect, barely a cloud in the sky and the sights were stunning.

The most surprising thing about the helicopter ride was that I got airsick. That never happens to me.  My first plane ride was when I was 2 weeks old, and I used to read in the car when I was a little girl.  Never in my life have I had a problem with air-sickness, sea-sickness, motion-sickness or any other kind of sickness.  So I didn't understand what was happening when, mid-flight, my stomach was churning like crazy.  I looked over at Dan and patted my tummy, and he nodded his head too... he was feeling a little nauseous himself.  I did a double check of the seat pocket in front of me to confirm the airsick bag was really there, just in case.

The good news is that, I didn't need the bag, and after we landed and enjoyed a nice breakfast at Charley's (Willie Nelson's restaurant) in Paia, Maui, I was a-ok.

We took a million photos during the one-hour flight, and here are some of the best shots.
