#35.Go to the gym 4 times a week for 6 weeks
Sometimes, getting to the gym is the hardest part, but then I'm there, and it isn't so bad.
The reason I made this a goal for my 101 list was that I sometimes have a hard time keeping a consistent work-out schedule. Or, I don't have anything motivating me to just go. I always feel better afterwards, but sometimes that is hard to remember.
I'd been going to the gym regularly since November, mostly 3 but sometimes 4 times a week, which to me was impressive, considering it was the holiday season and there was tons going on. This is also the time of year that I typically notice that I stop going to the gym because I start to make excuses about how I can't go because I just have too much to do. What's funny, is that I really did notice a difference with keeping a consistent work out schedule. I noticed that I had more energy and actually got a lot more accomplished. I also slept better, felt happier and got skinnier. Yep, it was all sunshine, unicorns and rainbows for me.
After the holidays, when things somewhat settled down, I continued my pattern, but mid-January, I noticed I'd started a 4 days/week trend without even realizing it. So, January 9th marked the first day of six weeks where I physically went to the gym and worked out.
As I neared the end, I knew I couldn't give up, but it got challenging at times. I had to really plan out my schedule and commit to the days I would go ahead of time. There were a couple of weekends where we went out of town, so Friday & Saturday, and sometimes Sunday were out of the question. My typical pattern was M, W, Th and S, for my 4 days. But I had to switch it and sometimes do Saturday and Sunday, and sometimes a morning work out cause the evenings were too packed.
My six weeks officially ended on 2/18, just in time for me to run/walk a 5K in Sunriver with my friend Kelly - more on that later. Never would have imagined I'd have been able to do that, but those consistent workouts helped so much. And I'm proud to say, I've continued the trend and have stayed consisted with working out at least 3 days a week, if not 4. It's a habit now!
